While most of Fair Haven slept, two gunmen climbed onto a Grand Avenue roof and fired 20 shots into an apartment, according to police. They hit three people inside.
Police offered this account:
It was 3:55 a.m. Saturday. The two men climbed onto a first-floor roof. They shot into the window of a second-floor apartment. In all, they fired 20 rounds from an AK-47.
A cop, Lisa Wexler, heard gunshots. Someone called the cops to report three people shot in a second-floor apartment.
Cops arrived to find the three victims — two men and one woman — inside the apartment. Their injuries were described as non-life-threatening. They went to hospitals for treatment.
Police found “multiple assault rifle rounds” in a lot nearby.
An initial theory, unconfirmed, is that this was a retaliatory shooting. No other details were available.
Police responded to another Grand Avenue shooting earlier, at 12:36 a.m. According to a release: “The victim was located in the parking lot of 111 and 103 Grand Ave, with one wound to the right calf. Located in the driveway of 103 Grand Ave. was one spent .380 shell casing. Police have no suspects at this time. Victim transported to 1 Park St, stable condition.” The victim was a 17-year-old girl.
