Bad” Chad Gets The Key

D. Shahid Abdul-Karim sent in photos and a write-up from Plaquemine, La, where New Haven’s own boxing champ received the key to the city.

The city of Plaquemine, La., honored New Haven’s boxing champion Chad Dawson with the distinguished key” to its city.

Dawson visited south Louisiana to promote his Champions Challenge” to Haiti and his Chad Cares Foundation.

Chad Cares Foundation was started by he and his wife Mrs. Crystal Dawson as their way to give back to not only communities in New Haven but all over America.

Mr. Dawson had the opportunity to visit schools in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Luling, and Plaquemine, Louisiana. He was also featured on WAFB’s Channel 9 Good Morning Baton Rouge.

The schools in the state of Louisiana were preparing for the state test and Mr. Dawson was invited to encourage the students to focus and do well on their test.

Chad also became the first World Boxing Champion to make an appearance in the city of Plaquemine, La and the first boxer to also receive the Honorary Citizen Award”

No other city in America has honored Champion Dawson with the distinguished Key” to its city.
