A 14-year-old boy remained in critical condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital Monday after someone shot him in what police described as a targeted attack.
The attack took place around 9:30 p.m. Sunday on Bassett Street near Newhall at 9:30 p.m., according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman.
Cops and EMTs found the boy there with gunshot wounds, and he was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Hartman said a passenger in a “white crossover-type vehicle,” wearing a black face mask, shot at the boy. He was hit in the area of the stomach and groin.
A subsequent police release Monday afternoon quoted Assistant Chief Archilles Generoso as saying that at this point it appears the boy was “the specific target of the shooter and that this was not a drive-by assault.”
Police urge anyone with information to call detectives at (203) 946‑6304.
