A close-reading librarian was the latest to win the coveted award for catching typos at the Independent.
Chuck Riley, a catalogue librarian at Yale’s Sterling Library, stopped by the Independent newsroom on Wednesday afternoon to receive his official mug of typo-catching appreciation.
Riley, who lives in Fair Haven, caught 39 Independent typos in the latest round of ongoing reader competition. He credited his win to the attention to detail he’s cultivated at his library job and to his experience as an editor of his high school newspaper in Iowa.

There should not be a comma before "and" because it functions as a coordinating conjunction, not a subordinating conjunction.
