An officer breaking up a fight outside a downtown club Thursday ended up being treated by an ambulance crew for a cut to the head.
Officer Krzysztof Ruszczyk was among the cops by Gotham Citi at Church and Crown at 2:20 a.m. Thursday dealing with a “large fight,” according to police spokesman Officer Joe Avery.
According to Avery, Rusczyk was “handcuffing an arrestee” who then “head butted” the officer. The arrestee was charged with assaulting a police officer.
Gotham’s bouncers ejected “several persons for fighting.” Out on the street the cops ordered people to leave. One man refused; while the officers arrested him, his “girlfriend and her sister interfered with officers and were also arrested,” according to Avery. “As one of the arrestees was led to the wagon she spat in Sgt. Richard Miller’s face.” She, too, was charged with assault.
