Police are closing in on people they believe committed last weekend’s two murders in the Beaver Hills neighborhood.
That’s according to Assistant Police Chief John Velleca.
Neither suspect is in custody, Velleca said Thursday afternoon.
Police believe both cases involve score-settling from ongoing disputes.
They originally thought the fatal shooting of 31-year-old former Hillhouse basketball player Donell Allick on Diamond Street last Friday stemmed from a domestic dispute. That is no longer the theory, Velleca said.
In the other case, someone walked up to 17-year-old Travis Washington on Percival Street shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday, asked if he was indeed Travis Washington, then pumped bullets into his chest.
“We’re optimistic” about solving the cases, Velleca said.
