Police are seeking the public’s help in tracking down a vehicle involved in a fatal collision early Saturday.
The collision occurred around 2 a.m. at Whalley and Osborn avenues.
Here’s what happened, according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman:
The driver of an Acura SUV struck motorcyclist Garry T. Gulledge, 31, of Oakville. Then the driver fled on Osborn toward Goffe Terrace.
Officers and EMTs arrived on the scene. Witnesses told the officers they saw a silver colored SUV fleeing the scene.
Gulledge was taken to the hospital. He died soon after. A subsequent autopsy determined that he “died from blunt impact injuries of the neck and torso.”
Police obtained a photo from the scene. It showed a 2003 – 2007 silver colored Acura MD. They’ve since put out a poster (see above) seeking information about the vehicle, which “is missing its passenger side rocker panel and should show other damage to that side as well.” The poster includes the imgae of the actual vehicle “as well as a stock photo of the make and model for easier reference.” Anyone with information is asked to call Sgt, Rose Dell at (203)-506‑4369.
Gulledge was a mechanical engineer. A graduate of RPI, he worked for Mott Corporation. He was also a photographer and filmmaker. Click here for more information about his work.
Hate Vandalism
Someone shattered windows and glass doors at an Indian restaurant and immigration and tax office on Foxon Boulevard and drew swastikas and “anti-police markings” on an adjacent wooden fence overnight, according to Hartman. The vandal also left behind “an obscene illustration” of Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and Oklahoma cop Betty Shelby.
Officers found the vandalism Monday morning, along with “similar messages” at the Bella Vista police substation on Eastern Street.
Investigators are examining surveillance video footage.
