Feed Them Your Questions

At their next big debate, New Haven’s five (at last count) Democratic mayoral candidates will address how to make the streets and our neighborhoods safe — and you can help provide the questions.

The Safe Streets/Safe Neighborhoods Mayoral Debate” takes place Tuesday, July 16, at Metropolitan Business Academy starting at 6 p.m. (Please note: The correct address is 115 Water St., not 175.)

A host of media organizations — La Voz Hispana, the Independent, the Register, Inner-City News — are sponsoring the debate, along with a variety of community organizations: The Democracy Fund, New Haven Votes, Elm City Cycling, the Safe Streets Coalition, the Violence Reduction Group, and community management teams. The Independent’s Melissa Bailey and the Register’s Shahid Abdul-Karim will ask the questions.

They’re crowd-sourcing the questions. Anyone with a question about safe streets and safe neighborhoods is encouraged to send it in. Dial 203 – 868-0724 to leave the question in Spanish. Dial 203 – 787-8590 to leave the question in English. Or you can email Melissa Bailey .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). The moderators will choose the final questions from among all those submitted.
