Car Crashes Into House After Medical False Alarm

A man crashed his car into the porch of a house at Chapel Street and Central Avenue, after thinking his wife was having chest pains.

The man was driving on Chapel Street at around 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, when his wife sitting in the passenger seats indicated she was having chest pain. He reached over to see if she was OK and the light cycled” to red, according to Sgt. Renee Dominguez, who was on the scene Wednesday morning.

He realized he was about the run the red light and tried to stop, but instead hit a car that had just taken the green light on Central Avenue, according to Dominguez.

His vehicle then hit the porch of a house on Chapel and Central Avenue.

Medical personnel checked the man’s wife on the scene and found that she was healthy and didn’t need to go to the hospital,” Dominguez said.

The porch and vehicles were damaged. Neither driver was hurt. The homeowner was not at home at the time of the incident.

We have issues with people running red lights. That was not the reason” for this crash, Dominguez said. The driver was not reckless.”
