There used to be a saying you heard and read every day in New Haven: “According to mayoral spokeswoman Jessica Mayorga.”
Thursday, a new saying replaced it: “According to mayoral spokesman Adam Joseph.”
That’s because Joseph is replacing Mayorga as … the mayor’s spokesperson.
Joseph, 29, has worked for City Hall for two years. His most recent gig: liaison to the state legislature.
The James Madison University graduate previously worked as deputy communications director for former Connecticut Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz and as deputy press secretary and community liaison to New York State Sen. Jeff Klein. He lives on New Haven’s East Shore.
He said Thursday that he’s excited about his new job.
Mayorga is moving with her family to the D.C. area, where she is taking on a new position as marketing director for the D.C.-based Latino rights organization, the National Council of La Raza. She began working for New Haven Mayor John DeStefano in March 2007. Her official last day releasing statements “according to mayoral spokeswoman Jessica Mayorga” is Friday.
