Not-For-Profits Sing, Recite For Their Supper

WNPR “Where We Live” host John Dankosky popped in to WNHH radio Tuesday to help us raise money for a good cuase—by channeling Mr. Rogers.

Dankosky participated in our 36-hour radiothon/webcast to help raise money for not-for-profits alongside the Great Give” sponsored by the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven.

Dankosky got his start in radio in hometown of Pittsburgh, where the famous Fred Rogers did his Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood” show. In Mr. Rogers’ honor, John sang one of his songs. Click on the video above to watch it.

Dozens of community groups are raising money during that time duringthe annual Great Give” competition. We’ve invited them to appear on the radiothon to make a pitch for you to give them money. But first they’ve been asked to sing (a song) or recite (a poem) for their supper.

We’re also asking you to help keep this radio station on the air. WNHH is a not-for-profit grassroots New Haven community radio station. The New Haven Independent and La Voz Hispana launched the station last August. We’re broadcasting original live local programs diving into our communal and poltical and cultural life each day, over the air and on the internet at the New Haven Independent’s website, newhavenindeendent.org. Please consider making a donation to us now. Here’s the link to make a donation. You can also use the form below.
