Michael Bethune’s life was changed by the Boys and Girls Club. He rapped about that as part of a community-wide “Great Give.”
The performance took place during a 36-hour live radiothon and videothon we’re hosting on WNHH FM and the New Haven Independent website.
A slew of community organizers and change-makers read poems on the air during Wednesday morning’s stretch of the radiothon.
Dozens of community groups are raising money during that time during the Community for Greater New Haven’s annual “Great Give” competition. We’ve invited them to appear on the radiothon to make a pitch for you to give them money. But first they’ve been asked to sing (a song) or recite (a poem) for their supper.
The not-for-profit arts groups and other organizations participating in the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven’s annual “Great Give” fundraising competition stopped by the studio to give a short performance, then make their pitch.
We’re also asking you to help keep this radio station on the air. WNHH is a not-for-profit grassroots New Haven community radio station. The New Haven Independent and La Voz Hispana launched the station last August. We’re broadcasting original live local programs diving into our communal and poltical and cultural life each day, over the air and on the internet at the New Haven Independent’s website. Please consider making a donation to us now. Here’s the link to make a donation.
Atticus Cafe/Chabaso Bakery is the grand sponsor for this radiothon.
