New Haven police and fire departments enacted a series of street closures around the Green in response to a bomb threat inside City Hall. As of 6:20, the streets were reopened.

The police called the fire department around 4:45 p.m., according to Assistant Fire Chief Mark Vendetto. According to David Hartman, the police department’s media liaison, the police responded to a call about a bomb threat in City Hall shortly before that.

Police closed Church Street outside of City Hall and Orange Street behind it. City Hall was evacuated. The fire department closed Temple Street. The closures ranged from Elm Street to Chapel Street.

After a thorough search of City Hall, no threat was found, and the streets were reopened.
