Turkey Day Already?

Tom came back to stroll downtown. Or if not Tom, some other wild turkey.

The critter was spotted Wednesday between Elm and Grove streets, briefly disruptying traffic and confusing passersby.

Charles Roach, proprietor of the Dogs on Wheels food cart, said he was surprised to find a turkey near his usual spot outside The Hall of the Scroll and Key Society. To him at least, turkey sightings are a relatively common phenomenon elsewhere in New Haven.

The turkey was last spotted heading in the direction of the Grove Street Cemetery.

When the Independent last spotted the turkey — well, probably a different one — downtown, it was on the Green, aiming to ruin a woman’s lunch. Click here to read about that.
