Felon Zapped
Cops used a Taser to subdue a belligerent felon outside the Humphrey’s East bar at closing time Saturday at 2 a.m. A woman called the cops when she saw the suspect, a stranger, get into her friend’s car without invitation. Cops approached the car and asked the man to leave. The man, who was armed with a loaded gun, refused to leave the car. When a cop tried to remove him from the car, he became “combative.” Officers used a Taser to subdue the suspect, who was a felon just released from jail earlier this year. The felon recovered safely from the Taser shock and was arrested for belligerence and illegal gun-toting.
Man Duped By Fake Cop
A Hamden man told police he was driving in New Haven at 12:26 a.m Saturday when an unmarked car with blue strobe lights pulled him over at Long Wharf and Canal Dock. The unsuspecting visitor rolled down his window to find a 6‑foot, 200-pound man with a gold-colored badge who said he was a cop. The “cop” told him he was being pulled over for having tinted windows. The driver turned over his license, registration and wallet to the “cop.” After “examining” the documents, the “cop” returned the victim’s wallet and told him he was free to go.
As he drove away, the Hamden man started wondering about the strange interaction. He opened his wallet and found cash and a license gone.
