When U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro arrived at Park Ridge Apartments at 40 Austin St.Tuesday afternoon, she met a packed room of nearly 200 with the gusto and ease of someone who wins elections, and knows that every interaction counts.
To translate a prize endorsement into votes, Dannel P. Malloy came to New Haven Sunday seeking to convert skeptical independent-minded voters like Eric Hermes.
The Republican is keeping up with the incumbent Democrat in one state legislative race in town, at least when it comes to raising campaign dough — and doing it while limiting the size of individual donations he’ll accept.

Colorful canopies dotted a cordoned section of Judwin Avenue in upper Westville Sunday afternoon, as neighbors came out to enjoy a block party organized by former Alder Sergio Rodriguez and wife Randi Rubin-Rodriguez. The big draw was not a parked fire truck that drew out curious children, but a relaxed Governor Dannel P. Malloy sporting jeans and a blue dress shirt, making yet another reelection campaign stop in the city he needs to win big again on Nov. 4.
