The West Hills and West Rock neighborhood’s Democratic Party ward committee unanimously voted to endorse retired public space inspector Honda Smith for alder in a race against the committee’s own co-chair, and the ward’s incumbent alder, Michelle Edmonds-Sepulveda.
Edmonds-Sepulveda never arrived at the meeting. She was boycotting it.

Police arrested a babysitter for allowing a 2‑year-old boy to wander alone in West Hills. And thieves on Blake Street made off with a Chinese delivery order after at least simulating having a handgun.
Glasses were raised at 50 Fitch Restaurant and Bar not for the Boston Red Sox on the TV screen, but for the familiar face from around the city looking to launch a second career as an elected official.

Tires and wheels disappeared from numerous cars parked in Westville.
Roosevelt’s nightclub was caught twice allegedly serving booze after having its permit revoked.
And the driver of a Camry drove fast at a car in the parking lot, got out, then sprayed the other driver’s eyes with Lysol, tased her, and stole her cellphone. Witnesses video-recorded the incident.

Two pit bulls — one white, the other white and brown — ran into a man’s Pond Lily Avenue backyard.
The white and brown pit bull did the killing. The same dog killed the man’s rabbit last year. But this year the dog got caught, by New Haven Animal Control.
Meanwhile, the police department’s bomb squad also got to detonate a Japanese World War II grenade found in a resident’s garage.
