JOBS PIPELINE WORKING GROUP TO HOLD PUBLIC HEARING –
TUESDAY, APRIL 10, 2012 at 6 :30 PM IN NEW HAVEN CITY HALL

(NEW HAVEN) On February 6, 2012 The New Haven Board of Aldermen established a Jobs Pipeline Working Group
in order to create a strategic plan to address gaps in the employment meet the employment needs of youth and
families and the staffing needs of businesses.
This group made up of a diverse group of stakeholders, including members of the business, government, labor, and
non-profit communities, has begun working to develop a strategy for a jobs pipeline program.
The next step for the Working Group is get public input at its public meeting on Tuesday, April 10 at 6:30 PM in City
Hall. All interested parties are encouraged to attend and present testimony to the group on one or more of these
four foundational questions:
1) What are the needs of the business community?
2) How could a jobs pipeline provide qualified applicants to meet the needs of employers?
3) How could a jobs pipeline connect local people to good jobs in New Haven and what resources and/or
structures are needed so that it can best serve the communities most in need?
4) How could the project best make use of existing resources and programs?
Anyone with suggestions, insights, or experiences that might be relevant to these questions is invited to speak to
the working group at the public meeting or to submit written suggestions, statements, informational materials,
or questions to the Working Group through the Board of Aldermen’s office by emailing alucas@newhavenct.net ,
calling (203) 946‑6483, or faxing to (203) 946‑7476.
Members of the public are also invited to attend to hear more about the progress of the working group and hear
the testimony that will be given. A sign-up sheet will be available at the meeting.
