3 City Officials Self-Quarantine

Modeling caution: Frank, Bombero, Bond.

Three mayoral appointees — Health Director Maritza Bond, city spokesperson Gage Frank, and Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Rebecca Bombero — have been in 14-day self-quarantine, working digitally from home.

All have tested negative for Covid-19. But they have been in contact with people who have tested positive. So they’re self-quaranting out of an abundance of caution to keep others safe,” Frank wrote in a release issued Thursday afternoon.

Bombero was among the 12 city workers self-quarantined after having contact with a City Clerk’s Office employee who tested positive during the run-up to Election Day. Bond had contact with a Covid-positive relative. Frank (wearing a mask at the time and social distancing) this past weekend ran into an acquaintance who has since tested positive.

This virus is not to be taken lightly. I now have three close family members impacted by Covid-19,” Director Bond stated in the release. It is so important that we all continue to respect each other, and we can do that by wearing our masks, limiting our interactions with others, and washing our hands. We all play a critical role in this, and it is going to take collective action from all of us.”

Frank noted in the release that he lost a relative to the coronavirus back in April: A lot of my job is writing, so I opted-out of blogging about my experience; nonetheless, I have definitely been enjoying playing my guitar in between Zoom meetings.”

Bombero has been blogging about her self-quarantine experience (here), including her efforts to avoid going stir-crazy. (Yoga apparently helps.)
