A 13-year-old boy is recovering from injuries suffered when a bus hit him Thursday afternoon.
The collision on Grand Avenue between Atwater and Ferry streets around 3:45 p.m.
Many people were outside at the time. The boy “ran across the street in front of Fair Haven Middle School” just as a CTtransit bus was driving down the street, police reported.
A witness saw the boy hit the bike rack in front of the bus, then get propelled into the air and against the bus’s front window.
The boy broke his leg and will require surgery, according to police. He is listed in stable condition.
