The public library’s Board of Directors plans to get on Skype next week in the next step of the search for a new city librarian.
The board plans to conduct interviews via Skype with 10 applications on June 2 from 5 to 7 p.m., according to President Claudia Merson.

The city’s library system has been without a head librarian since Christopher Korenowksy (at right in photo) tendered his resignation, for personal reasons, last December.
Merson offered an update on the search for his replacement at the board’s monthly meeting at the main branch library on Elm Street Tuesday afternoon.
The search began April 8 and closed this past Sunday. The board hired Bradberry Associates to conduct the search. Forty people applied for the job; 40 percent of them were unqualified.
A decrease in the position’s salary — it now ranges from $80,000 – 103,000, based on experience — deterred some qualified candidates from applying, Merson said.
