Crash Kills Pedestrian

A crash Thursday evening in Fair Haven left a pedestrian dead and a motorcyclist struggling for life.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Ferry and Lombard Street.

A pedestrian attempted to cross the street and was struck by The motorcycle. Both motorcyclist and pedestrian suffered life threatening injuries and were transported to the hospital,” New Haven police spokesperson Capt. Anthony Duff wrote in a release.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased and the motorcyclist is listed in critical condition.”

He said he’d have more details later Friday.

The department’s Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating; the intersection is closed to traffic.

Witnesses who have not spoken to police are asked to contact the New Haven Police Department at 203 – 946-6316,” Duff wrote.

(Update: The deceased pedestrian was a 48-year-old Hamden man. The motorcyclist is a 30-year-old New Havener; his condition has been upgraded to stable.)
