Two masked men came up behind a man when he returned home from walking his dog, struck him in the head, then ran off with his wallet.
The attack took place on Laurel Road in Hamden Wednesday around 9:15 a.m., according to police spokesperson Sean J. Dolan. Dolan reported that the man was treated at the scene, then taken to the hospital. Anyone with relevant information or surveillance is asked to contact Detective Scott Levenduski at 203 – 230-4050.
Earlier this week, at Monday around 7:45 p.m., a man approached a 24-year-old on Goodrich Street who had listed a PlayStation console for sale online. “The ‘buyer’ asked to see the contents of the box and pepper-sprayed the victim,” then fled with the PlayStation onto Shepard Street, Dolan reported.
Also in Hamden Wednesday, the fire department, with the help of North Haven’s FD, spent nine minutes bringing an “aggressive” two-alarm fire under control at a five-family apartment complex at 6 Savoy St., according to Fire Marshal Brian Dolan. He stated that “wind conditions and an open front door” caused the fire to spread fast once firefighters arrived on scene at 12:13 p.m. The fire “started in a toaster oven … spread to a tablecloth and soon engulfed the dining room and kitchen,” then “spread to the upstairs bedrooms and attic,” Dolan reported in a release. No one was injured. The town’s building official declared the structure uninhabitable; the town and the Red Cross helped ten displaced residents find places to stay.
