An employee at The Edge Fitness Clubs has tested positive for Covid-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus, the company wrote in an email to its members on Monday.
According to the email, the employee taught classes at the Hamden, Orange, and Fairfield locations, and was last in an Edge Club facility in March 11.
“We are taking this situation very seriously and working closely with state and federal health officials on this matter,” the email said.
The club closed on March 16. Before closing, the email said, the club enhanced its sanitation efforts by providing additional disinfectant wipes, wiping down equipment more frequently, posting handwashing guidelines around sinks and locker rooms, and by doing extra cleaning during peak hours.
“If you checked-in to any of our Fairfield, Hamden, or Orange clubs prior to closing, please take the necessary precautions recommended by the CDC,” the email said. “If you are feeling any symptoms — such as fever, cough or shortness of breath — please reach out to your healthcare provider immediately.”
