Looking to get their first win of the season the Branford Hornets girls’ soccer team came up short losing 2 – 1 on a header by Sheehan’s Samantha Larkin that evaded goaltender Nina Grabowiecki with a minute left to play in the game.
The low-scoring game finished 1 – 0 at the half with Sheehan leading. Branford tied it up when co-captain Taylor Brown {pictured) scored with 10 minutes left.
Branford had momentum going into the end of regulation until Larkin (pictured) made a great play directing the ball off a pass that got by the senior goaltender for the victory. Here Junior Melissa Beatty fights for possession of the ball with Larkin.
There were many moments to remember in this game.

The Hornets started the season the week before with a 1 – 1 tie against North Haven.
After the Sheehan loss they fell to Mercy 2 – 0 before getting their only win to date, 6 – 1 over Hamden.
This week they fell to Guilford 2 – 1 and tied West Haven on Saturday, 0 – 0. The Hornets’ record is now 1 – 3‑2.
