Who Noshed & Schmoozed

New Haven’s culinary stars aligned at the annual New Haven Wine & Food Festival Wednesday night on the grounds at the New Haven Open. The Independent’s undercover society scribe spotted Wine Thief’s Karl Ronne there with event coordinator Lori Jackson. (Wine Thief supplied the spirits for the event.)

Volunteer Ouida Green took a break from handing out wine glasses for a taste of the classic New Haven experience: schmoozing with Yale’s Michael Morand at a civic event.

Juan Carlos Gonzalez and Manuel Romero from Ibiza served up shrimp and bay scallop ceviche.

Yale physics professor Dasuke Nagai (second from right) came with his wife Miki as well as his parents (visiting from Japan) to the fest and to the tennis for the first time.

Independent Chef of the Week Denise Appel (at right) and owner Donna Curran of Zinc were there, of course.

Frank Criscuolo took a break while Claire served up organic polenta with bruschette, representing both the couple’s Corner Copia and Basta.
