Notice of Permit Application

Notice is hereby given that Connecticut Fund for the Environment (the applicant”) has submitted to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection an application under Connecticut General Statutes Section(s) 22a-403; AND 401 of the federal Clean Water Act, 33 U.S.C. sec. 1341; for a permit to remove a dam. Specifically, the applicant proposes to remove the Pond Lily Dam and restore diadromous fish passage and habitat connectivity to the West River. The proposed activity will take place at the Pond Lily Preserve on Whalley Avenue. The proposed activity will potentially affect the West River and benefit diadromous fish. Interested persons may obtain copies of the application from CT Fund for the Environment, 142 Temple Street, New Haven, CT 06510, telephone 203 – 787-0646.The application will be available for inspection starting January 1, 2014 at the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, Inland Water Resources Division, 79 Elm Street, Hartford, CT 06106 – 5127, telephone 860 – 424-3019, from 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday.
