The Public Safety Committee of the New Haven Board of Alders will hold a workshop on Tuesday, September 17 at 6 p.m. in the Alder Chamber of City Hall, 165 Church Street, re:
(1) From the Chief of Police submitting a Resolution of the Board of Alders of the City of New Haven authorizing the Department of Police Service to accept a donation of $50,000 from Demand Zero to purchase two K‑9s, one year of food and veterinary expenses, and a fully outfitted K‑9 vehicle.
(2) From the Chief of Police submitting a Resolution authorizing acceptance of State Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) pass-through funds from BH Care, Inc., a behavioral health organization, in an amount not to exceed $15,000 for training conducted by the New Haven Innovative Community Engagement Initiative, for detention certified supervisors and staff on substance abuse issues, including addiction, stigma, harm reduction, and suicide, to take place during October and November 2019.
