Aurea Luz Rosado, 89

Aurea Luz Rosado.

Born in Aguada, Puerto Rico, on Feb. 19, 1934, Aurea (Luz) was a long-time New Haven resident. Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother went on to be with the lord on Aug. 6, 2023.

She was a devoted mother and the matriarch of the family. She is survived by her eleven biological children Lydia Mercado, Carmen Mercado, Edith Soto, Elsie Mercado, Bernardo Polanco, Edwin Polanco, Hector Polanco, Roberto Polanco, Madelyn Polanco, Osvaldo Polanco, and Alberto Gonzalez. 

She was also the loving parenting grandparent of Maritza Bond, Anthony Hernandez and Victoria Carrion. 

Her legacy continues — with 25 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. 

Aurea was predeceased by her eldest daughter Gloria Mercado, three brothers Carlos Rosado Badillo, Reminio Rosado, Antulio Rosado Badillo, and sister Norma Rosado Badillo. 

A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Christian Center, 349 Wheeler’s Farm Rd., Milford, CT. Private interment will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
