Christopher Charles Gray died Aug. 25, 2018, following a long battle with MS.
Chris was a resident of New Haven but was born in Bethpage, New York. He is the son of the late Donald E. Gray and Eileen E. Gray. He also lived in North Haven and Orange. He graduated from Amity High School in 1968 and with his interest in art, attended Emerson College in Boston.
Chris Gray was a resident of New Haven most of his adult life and ran unsuccessfully for New Haven mayor under the Green Party in the 1980s. He was a political activist and champion of the elderly and was a reporter for The Elder newspaper in New Haven.
For a time in the 1970s, he was a talk show host on Yale Radio. He was an employee of the Yale Coop in the book department for many years. Chris’s love for New Haven and service to his community were a big part of his life.
He leaves behind two brothers, Donald Gray (Maureen) Fredericksburg, Va., Brian Gray (Laurie), Wallingford, one sister Eileen LeVine (Martin) of North Branford, and his devoted caregiver, Yoboua Kouassi.
