On Wednesday, January 5, 2022, Corine (Jenkins) Reeves, loving wife and mother, passed away at age 91. Corine was born on February 25, 1930 in Dorchester, SC to the late Reverend Joe and Martha (Miller) Jenkins.
Corine received education within the Dorchester County school system. At an early age she joined Jericho Baptist Church and married Paul Reeves. They relocated to New Haven CT and raised their two sons, Julius (Loretta) Reeves and Paul L. Reeves, and daughter, Doreen E (Bryan) Coburn.
She was an active member of Mt. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church as well as New Freedom Baptist Church where she served in multiple capacities. She loved singing and was member of the choir as a lead singer. No one would go without a meal in her presence. Corine was a homemaker. Her interests included family, church, gardening, sewing, and spending time with friends. She devoted all her life, time and energy as a caregiver to family members and friends. For those of us who were blessed to be touched by her understand that her existence and the imprint she left on our hearts exceed all quantity of time that she stayed here.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul, brothers, George, Samuel, Joseph, and Joshua; sisters, Janie Mae and Rose Marie; stepmother, Jessie Jenkins; and two stepbrothers, Clyde and Herbert Singletary.
Her memories will be cherished by her brother, John (Arnetta) Jenkins; her children, Julius, Paul and Doreen; grandchildren, Tameka (Bill) Lepore, Lacoya Nichols, Christopher Roberts, Jamale Williams, Jonathan Coburn, and Jainise Coburn; great-grandchildren, Erskin C. Watts, Eyana Watts, Jaquan Nichols, and Shawn Pierce; great great-grandchildren, Dillyn, Jayden, Brooklyn, Aubrey, and Mia; as well as a host of other family and friends.
A celebration of life will take place Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, 1287 Chapel St, New Haven, CT 06511. Friends may call Thursday at the funeral home from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven.
