Dayna was born to Mrs. Shirley Threatt and Mr. Mack Shields, Jr. on March 3, 1984 in New Haven, Connecticut.
She was a beloved resident of West Haven, Stratford, and most recently New Haven where she purchased a home with her husband whom she married on June 11, 2022.
Dayna worked at Yale-New Haven Hospital for 20 years. As a surgical tech she loved her job because with her co-workers and doctors it afforded her the opportunity to change people’s lives for the better.
Dayna was great at anything she put her mind to. She loved Do It Yourself projects and thrived on creating her own arts and crafts. Dayna was also a foodie. She loved to eat and cook. If Dayna felt that a dish that she ate while out was overpriced she would go home and teach herself how to make it and her version was always better than the restaurant version and a lot cheaper.
Dayna was an avid traveler and wanted to see the world. Dayna loved taking trips with her husband and her ladies. Every chance she got she would drive, fly, or ride her motorcycle to another destination. Dayna loved riding her motorcycle and was a member of The Presidents Motorcycle Club. Dayna was also a part of “Da Clique” who are her motorcycle club sisters (Angela Corbett, Denise Polite, and the late Niki Foust). This quartet of ladies are inseparable.
Dayna also loved dancing, singing, and taking a host of pictures and videos. Dayna had an infectious personality and was a genuine person. She left a positive impression on anyone who was fortunate enough to cross paths with her.
Dayna transitioned on Oct. 27, 2022.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her husband, Jem Howard; brothers, Reshawn Murry and Kenyen Smith; uncles, Leroy, Roy, John Lee, and Bobby; aunt, Barbara, Joyce, and Robin; and a host of other family members, friends, and co-workers too numerous to name personally. Dayna wants everyone who spent time with her during her battle to know that she appreciated everything you did for her. She thanks you for taking time out your busy schedules to spend time with her, she thanks you for all the gifts you sent and gave her. She truly loved you all.
