Doris Davis, 66, of New Haven went home to be with the Lord on August 13, 2019.
She was born in Dunn, NC on July 21, 1953, the daughter of the late James Ward and Shirley Davis Ward.
Doris was educated in the New Haven Public School Systems. After 30 years of service as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Doris retired from Arden House. Doris was a faithful member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.
Doris loved to cook for her family, favorite meals were curry chicken, chopped turkey Q, stuffing, it was all made with special ingredients “LOVE”. Doris adored her grandchildren and great granddaughter. In her spare time, she always watched Wheel of Fortune and she would act as if she was the contestant while she was cutting out the grocery coupons and surfing the web with her IPad.
She leaves to cherish her memories, daughters Latasha Davis (Daniel) and Ashley Sanders, of
New Haven, CT; sons Shante Davis (Kendrea) of West Haven, CT and Andre Sanders of New Haven, CT; Dear friend of over forty years, Lorraine Bellamy, 7 grandchildren; Jarrell Goforth, Jay’La Evans, Janai Evans, Shante Davis, Aiden Sanders, Alex Sanders and Adrianne Sanders, one great granddaughter Denver Burgess. Doris will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of her life will take place Monday, August 20, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 26 Edwards St., Hamden, CT. Visitation will be Monday at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven. Services by Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, 1287 Chapel St, New Haven, CT.
