Edith C. Spruill was born in New Haven on January 26, 1934 to the late William and Miriam Levine.
Edith attended James Hillhouse High School and graduated in 1951. She was a member of a social organization as a young adult called the Sigma Deltas. Edith was employed by Southern New England Telephone Company and retired from Yale New Hospital as a Supervisor in the data processing unit after thirty-five years of service. She was also a Justice of the Peace for over 20 years. Edith was a lifelong member of St. Luke’s Church and most recently served as head of their food pantry until 2018. She was member of the Red Hatters Social Organization and a member of the Dixwell Senior Center. Edith was an avid fan of the UCONN men’s and women’s basketball teams and the Connecticut Suns.
Edith departed this life on April 10, 2021. She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of sixty-three years, William L. Spruill Jr.; three children, Michelle Harris, Lisa Stevenson of New Haven, and William L. Spruill, III (Deneen) of Great Falls, VA; five grandchildren, Morgan Spruill, Taylor Spruill, Kyle Harris, Camryn Harris, and Leah Stevenson; dear sister, Eunice Levine; loving god-daughter, Diane Forbes; and a host of family and friends.
Graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Beaverdale Memorial Park, 90 Pine Rock Ave, New Haven, CT 06515. Services by Howard K.
