Hannah Jane Hemingway quietly slipped away to be with her Father on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at The Arden House.
Hannah Jane Hemingway was born on October 8, 1923 in Horry County (Poplar), South Carolina to the late Lela Chestnut Livingston and Richard Livingston. She was educated in the Horry County School System in South Carolina. Hannah later met and married Daniel Hemingway. From this union eight children were born.
In 1970, the family relocated to New Haven. She was gainfully employed by Carewell Convalescent Home for many years until her retirement.
Hannah Hemingway was an active member of Mount Zion Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Hamden, Pastor Alphod Sinclair. She was actively involved in the Church and served as a Deaconess and was later put on the Sick and Shut-in list. The Pastor and members always visited with her quite often. She enjoyed attending services at Mount Zion. Hannah truly loved the Lord and knew Him as her personal Lord and Savior. She had a close relationship with the Lord. Hannah never missed an opportunity to be a witness, sharing her words of wisdom, encouragement and God’s goodness with her family and with all she came in contact with.
Hannah was predeceased by her siblings: Kayron V. Livingston, Belle Galloway, Vera Jeanette Lewis, Walker Livingston, Clinton Livingston, Henry Vereen, Viola Evans, and Ellen Paige. Her children: Elizabeth and Richard Hemingway and her youngest daughter, Patricia Hemingway Reynolds. Se was also predeceased by her devoted husband, Daniel Hemingway of many years.
Hannah J. Hemingway leaves to cherish her memory her children, Rose Hearns, David Hemingway (Willa), Loretta Hemingway Elliott, Pastor Robert Hemingway (Brenda), and Thelma Hemingway Martinoli (Robert). Her grandchildren: Marilyn Hemingway, Eric Hemingway, Christopher Hearns, Erica Hearns, Shelia Hemingway, Elizabeth Hemingway, Dwayne Jones (Michelle), David Hemingway, Jr. (Monique), Lorenzo Hemingway (Jennifer), Danielle Hemingway Davis (Robert), and Robert Hemingway, Jr. and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Hannah Jane Hemingway, the Matriarch of the Family, will be truly MISSED.
A celebration of her life will take place Monday, September 23, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Bethel AME Church, 255 Goffe St, New Haven, CT 06511. Friends may call Monday at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 AM.
