Joaquin Ayala, 68 of New Haven passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2020.
He was born on May 3, 1951, in Patillas, Puerto Rico to the late Baudilio Ayala and Susanna Garcia.
Joaquin was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his five children: Liz Susanna Ayala, Joaquin Ayala Jr., Juan Francisco Ayala, Francis Ariam Ayala and Jose Luis Candelario. Five brothers, nine sisters, thirteen grandchildren 3 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. Joaquin was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all.
He was an avid dominos player and known to most as “Locking King” due to his signature style of winning. He worked as a pizza maker early in his life as well as a general mechanic, which he was most known for. Joaquin prided himself as being the mechanic to the less fortunate and was always there to help family, friends and anyone in need whenever possible.
A special heartfelt thank you to the staff at The Connecticut Hospice in Branford for their loving care and support during his final days. Services for Joaquin will be held from 11:30am – 2:30pm at Howard K Hill Funeral Services 1287 Chapel St., New Haven, CT on Thursday, March 12. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 769 Ella T.
