Mamie Louise Carmon, 83, departed this life and transitioned peacefully into her eternal resting place on Saturday, September 2, 2023. Mamie was born in Pitt County, North Carolina on September 16, 1939 to the late Charlie and Classie Mobley, Sr.
Mamie attended Pitt County School System where she met and later married her soulmate Johnny “Boot” Carmon. In 1960, they migrated to Connecticut where they raised their family. Mamie worked at Pratt & Whitney for many years before retiring in 1994 to care for her husband.
Mamie was a sweet woman of God who loved on anyone who came into her presence. Besides spending time with her family, Mamie was passionate about baking — and, oh, how the family loved that. Mamie also really enjoyed doing her crossword puzzles.
Mamie was a member of Sweet Hope Church and when she was physically able to attend, she was very active in both the Parker and Sweet Hope Gospel Choirs. She was also the lead singer for the Mobley Sisters Singers; they sang in various churches.
Mamie took the most pride in caring for her family, especially raising two daughters. She also was present and active in helping raise her grand and great-grandchildren.
Mamie did her job on this Earth and now is resting well in Heaven above. She was loved and respected by many and will be sorely missed.
Mamie leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Kathy Carmon of Meriden, CT and Stephanie Carmon of New Haven, CT; son-in-love, Gregory Shaw of New Haven, CT; two sisters, Sarah and Shirley Payton of Winterville, NC; five sister-in-laws, Carolyn (Marvin) Carmon of Hamden, CT, Betty Chase of Ft Lauderdale, FL, Betty Jean Mobley and Ollie Vera Mobley both of Winterville, NC, and Juanita Mobley of Columbus, GA; four grandchildren, Marquis (Heather) Denny of Winterville, NC, Lakeya (Hakeem) Drake of Hamden, CT, Alfonzo (Judy) Denny of Meriden, CT and Labria Denny of Meriden, CT; twelve great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
