Mary Dillon Johnson died on December 19, 2021, in New Haven.
She graduated from Crosby High School (Waterbury) in 1958, and Radcliffe College in 1962. She earned an MA in English from Columbia University in 1964. She earned a PhD in English from the University of California at Berkeley in 1974.
Mary was the Director of Public Relations and Development at the Creative Arts Workshop, 1988 – 1995, and the Director of Development at the Connecticut Food Bank, 1996 – 1999. She served as the Director of Graduate Career Services at Yale, 1999 – 2005.
In retirement, Mary became active in local music circles, playing piano with several groups.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce, and their daughter, Elizabeth. Bruce and Mary celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary last August. Bruce and Liz were at Mary’s bedside at the very end.
The family will hold a memorial service celebrating Mary’s life at a later date.
