Mary Elizabeth Cox (“Puppy”) of 48 Wilson St. went from labor to reward on the morning of February 22, 2019

Mary was the wife of the late Hoyt Cox Peanut man”. Born to the late Leonard Sr. and Gladys Forbes-Rogers in New Haven, she was employed by Lance International until retirement.

She was never at a loss for words and always willing to give you her honest opinion. There was no gray area with her; she either liked you or she didn’t, and if she liked you or not, you knew it immediately.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory, children, Cynthia Rogers, Webster Lucky, Fannie Rogers, Eric Rogers of New Haven, and Loria (Ronald) Brown of Manchester, Ct.; grandchildren, Tinisha (Tony) Gist, Quinisha Gist of New Haven, Sharyn (Ebony) Rogers of Fairburn, Ga., Caleb Rogers, Marquel Rogers, Jonathan Fuller, Tevin Rogers of New Haven.; great grandchildren, Terell, Cheyanne, Jonae, Jada, Tony and Emani; sisters, Sharyn Jones, Rosalind Rogers, Ida Carr and Esther Rogers; brothers, Ronald Rogers, Russell Rogers, Peter Rogers, Covel Rogers, Eric Rogers of New Haven, Daniel Rogers of Prospect, Ct., and John Rogers. She was predeceased by 4 bothers Stanley Rogers, Lawrence Rogers, Leonard Rogers, Albert Rogers, Frank Rogers and 2 sisters Barbara Ann Rogers, Carolyn Rogers and 1 grandson Christopher Rogers, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Mary loved and raised her granddaughter Sharyn as if she birthed her. Mary adored being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary spent her fun time with her sister eating out and their day trips to the casino. Mary was loved by family and the medical professionals that cared for her. She will be greatly missed.

A celebration of her life will take place Friday, March 1, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Matthew’s UFW Baptist Church, 400 Dixwell Ave, New Haven, CT 06511. Friends may call Friday at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven. Services by Howard K.
