Mary Louise Boorsch Vogler, of Sedona, Arizona, and Litchfield, Connecticut, died peacefully in Flagstaff, Arizona, on Jan. 25, 2019, after a short illness.
Born in New Haven, on Feb. 26, 1941, to the late Jean and Louise Totten Boorsch, Mary Lou graduated from Prospect Hill School and Finch College and earned an MA from the Middlebury Language Schools.
She taught French and Spanish at the Dalton School, NYC, and in public schools in Weston and New Milford, Connecticut, and also ESL in New Milford.
She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Vogler and Elizabeth’s partner Kyle Darden, brother Jim Boorsch, sister Suzanne Boorsch and brother-in-law Allan Appel, sister-in-law Dorothea Dietrich, niece Sophie Appel and her husband Geoffery Metz, nephew Nathaniel Appel, great-nephew Samuel Appel-Metz, and stepdaughters Amy Kent and Cheryl Vogler. She was predeceased by her brother John Peter Boorsch.
Donations in her memory may be made to Human Rights Watch, Natural Resources Defense Council, or National Organization for Women, as she was a passionate advocate for the equality of all people, and environmental preservation, with hope for a safe and equitable future for generations to come.
