On Sunday May 15th 2022, Michel Jean-Pierre Sr, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully at the age of 88.
Michel was born on January 30, 1934 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Michel came to the United States in 1964 where he began working at the University of New Haven, and would go on to become Supervisor of Facilities and spend 32 years working for the University. Michel married Marguerite Noel in 1959 and together they raised two sons, Christopher and Michel, Jr.
Michel had a passion for soccer and wrestling, and could be found many a day and night watching both. He loved the US and Haitian National teams, but could sit and watch any soccer match when it was on. Michel loved watching wrestling on TV, but found the ultimate joy watching it live, and would take his family every chance he could when WWE came to the New Haven Coliseum. Michel was known for his big laugh, his gentle personality, and his kind and compassionate soul.
Michel was preceded in death by his father, Jacque; mother, Madeline; brother, Maguwa; daughter, Mona; and son, Christopher. He is survived by his wife, Marguerite; two sons, Jacque and Michel, Jr; two grandsons, Christian and Aidan; and great-grandson, Zayd.
A celebration of life will take place Sunday, May 22, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, 1287 Chapel St, New Haven, CT 06511. Friends may call Sunday at the funeral home from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. Interment will be private.
