Patricia (Pat) Edwards Tucker was born to the late Maurice Edward Singleton and Marion Edwards Singleton on February 15, 1940 in New Haven, Ct. Besides Patricia, born to their union were two other daughters, Azalea (Muffy) and identical twin Maurine.
Pat transitioned to glory on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 30+ years, Roger James Walter Tucker, granddaughter Patrice Edwards, and sister Maurine Cornelius.
Pat and Maurine were affectionately called “The Singleton Twins.” They were inseparable for 75 years and shared a love for reading, shopping, and television. The Singleton Twins had an older sister, Muffy, who shared a loving and close bond with them. Pat enjoyed the many trips to California to visit her, along with their daily phone calls.
A lifelong resident of New Haven, CT, Pat was a 1958 graduate of Hillhouse High School and matriculated briefly at Quinnipiac College. She was employed for 35 years at Knights of Columbus and served as Vice-President of the union before being promoted to a management position.
Patricia, a born-again Christian, confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord, and Savior. She was baptized with her late husband, Roger in 1991 at Mt. Zion Seventh Day Adventist Church of Hamden, CT. She served faithfully at Mt. Zion for 31 years, and one of her greatest moments was when she was ordained as a Deaconess. She loved to read and study the bible. The weekly bible studies were a highlight of her week. She cherished her church family and the relationships that were formed around the study of and service to the Lord. Her walk with God transformed her life. You couldn’t have a conversation with Pat without her sharing her faith and love for God. It is because of this, her family has peace in knowing her soul is saved and at rest. The Bible reminds us death has no sting, and the grave has no victory (1 Corinthians 15:55 – 57).
The great loves of her life centered on her family. She is the loving mother of four children, Gloria Lynn Edwards (deceased), Marion Sailor of Dacula, GA, Maurine Edwards of Lawrenceville, GA and Keith Edwards of New Haven, CT. She cherished them dearly. Memories of her faithful and unconditional love could fill many books. Her love extended to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and strangers.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, a sister Azalea (Muffy) Jordan of Fairfield, CA, grandchildren: Kellie (Joe) Jones, Rodney Taurice Edwards, Khaleah Wallace, Irvin Chanz Wallace, Maurisha Edwards, Autumn Edwards, and Kyle Edwards, 5 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Emily Tucker, and a host of nieces, nephews and several lifelong friends (you know who you are 😊).
Words cannot express the deep loss of her physical presence. Pat loved life and people. God blessed our lives by allowing us to know her, to love her, and to be loved by her.
