Rebecca Elizabeth Seaborn, 99, of New Haven, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023.
She was born to the late Jake and Irene Rivers on August 30, 1923, in Charleston, SC, where she also received her education. Rebecca accepted Christ as her savior at an early age. She became a member of the Ebenezer AME Church while living in Charleston, SC. Rebecca moved to New Haven, CT in 1953. She married the late Willie L. Seaborn on January 18, 1964. Willie later died on April 12, 1969.
Rebecca was employed by Seamless Rubber Sporting Goods from 1953 to 1970. She then went on to work as a healthcare aid. Rebecca visited many churches in the New Haven area and decided to become a member of St. Matthews Unison Free Will Baptist Church in 1983. She was a member of the Willing Workers Club and the Home Mission.
She was predeceased by her sister, Ethel Phillips; and her brother, Jake Rivers. She leaves to cherish her memory, a niece, Eula Calhert; grandnephew, Alonza Bradford; caretaker, Naro Lee, Jr., to whom she proudly told everyone was her power of attorney. A celebration of her life will take place Saturday, April 1, 2023 at St. Matthews UFWB Church, 400 Dixwell Ave, New Haven, CT 06511. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven.
