Robert Lee Coe of New Haven, transitioned this earthly life, for the heavenly realm April 8, 2020 at Yale New Haven Hospital after a short illness. Robert was born to the late Berkley and Louvilla Coe, in Darlington South Carolina, where he was educated.
Robert moved to New Haven, Connecticut in 1960. New Haven is where he met and married the love of his life Jeannette Allen. Robert & Jeannette were married 46 years. Robert was a faithful member of St. Matthews Baptist Church in New Haven, and he sang with the Male Chorus. He was employed at the Cabinet Co. for many years before gaining employment with Amtrak Railroad which he retired from after 27 years of service. Once he retired he began traveling and he became known as sightseeing Bob. Robert was a kind soul with a gentle smile, often seen in his pick-up truck, wearing bib overalls, and he loved to say “Country done come to town”.
Robert leaves to mourn him, his loving wife, Jeannette Coe; five sons, Joseph Williams of Tim Moville, SC., Robert Edwards, William Rogers, Michael (Sylvia) Rogers, Ricky Rogers; three adopted children, Pinkey McBurrows, Micheal Spells all of New Haven, and Vanita Sykes of NC.; four Sisters, Lillie Mae Robinson, Willistine Gregg, Patricia Green and Patricia Damon; two brothers, Berkeley Coe, Jr., and Barrett Hall, Sylvester Coe (Uncle) all of Darlington SC., and Alford Coe (Uncle) of Baltimore, Md.; two Sister-in-laws, Margaret L. Maynard and Mary Ann Curtis; two Brother-in-laws, John Allen and Robert McBurrows; and one special niece, Tomasina Suggs all of New Haven.
Robert is predeceased by his parents; two Sisters, Daisy Mack and Mary Alice Wilson; and two Brothers, Woodrow and Alphonzo Coe.
