Roberta Smith Gibson, 84, of New Haven, departed this life April 21, 2014.
She was the widow of Silas A. Gibson, Jr.
Born in Columbia, MO, September 21, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Robert Smith and Eula Lee Goldman Smith.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Gibson was employed at the former Jewish Home for the Aged as a Nursing Assistant.
She was a member of St. Matthew’s UFWB Church.
Mrs. Gibson is survived by a son, Robert Alfred Gibson of New Haven; daughter, Sheila Marie Gibson of Riverdale, GA; daughter in-law, Sandra Good Gibson of New Haven; a stepdaughter, Denise Holmes of Tucson, AZ; brother, Carl Smith of St. Louis, MO; sisters, Lorraine Smith, Bertha Lee Jackson and Frances Smith all of St, Louis, MO; and Linda Smith Washington of Columbia, MO; a goddaughter, Tonya Moore; and other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Mrs. Gibson’s life and legacy will be held Friday, April 25, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Matthew’s UFWB Church, 400 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Viewing and visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 – 11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Hamden Plains Cemetery. Professional services entrusted to Curvin K.
