Rosa Lee Richardson, 93

Rosa Lee Richardson, age 93, of New Haven transitioned to her eternal home on Saturday, December 19, 2020. Rosa was born in Bethel, NC on May 20, 1927 to Isiah Crumble and Rosa Harrell Crumble.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith…

Rosa was educated in the Bethel school system. She accepted Christ at an early age and quickly developed an interest in music. Rosa began nurturing a God-given gift, and with her strong dedication and eagerness to learn accomplished her goal to play the piano. While in North Carolina she played for Reddick Chapel and the Free Will Church for several years. 

Rosa moved to New Haven in 1961 and shortly after her arrival, she joined St. Matthew’s U.F.W.B. Church. She was a dedicated musician for over 65 years, playing as the musician for the Willing Workers Choir and later the St. Matthew’s Senior Choir. She was a member of the St. Matthew’s Home Mission and was previously a Trustee for the Unison Annual Home Mission and loved to sing. Rosa was also the musician for the Thomas Chapel Mission Chorus and the Disciple Chorus for over 20 years. Rosa was a retiree of Yale University where she worked as a technician in the lab. 

Rosa was the devoted mother and grandmother. She leaves to cherish her memory; one daughter, Rosa Richardson Dolberry; two sons, David L. Richardson, and Tony E. Richardson (Kisha); 12 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by; brothers, Plummer Este Crumble, Willie B. Crumble, and Isiah Crumble Jr; sisters, Lillie V. Knight and Hilda M. Manning; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Richardson.

One of Rosa’s favorite scriptures is the 27th Psalm – The Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid.

A Walk-Thru visitation will take place Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Beulah Heights First Pentecostal Church, 782 Orchard St, New Haven, CT 06511. A celebration will be private. Interment will begin at 1:30 PM at Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven. Service by Howard K.
