On Tuesday, April 28, 2020 William Harrison Dease Jr. was called home. He was born on January 25, 1942 in Plantersville South Carolina to the late William Sr and Marie Dease.
William attended Choppe Highschool in Georgetown, SC. In 1960 William moved to New Haven and worked at a number of different jobs prior to his retirement in 2004 from Connecticut Transit after thirty-plus years of service.
William had a few nicknames, he was affectionally called, Sony or crook by his friends and family from South Carolina, and in later years Uncle Gus. William had several activities that he enjoyed which include gardening, fishing, hunting, and travel. He also loved socializing and he was a member of the Brothers twelve and Magnificent Nine social club.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a man who loved everyone and wore his heart on his sleeve. William was a great talker and good listener; he would also give you the shirt of his back if you presented with a need.
William established his relationship with Christ many years ago at St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Plantersville, SC. This continued into adulthood until he joined Bethel A.M.E. Church in 1982, where he has been a member for many years.
William leaves to cherish his memory, a loving wife of fifty-eight years Reginia, daughter Debra Cannon (Mitchel) of Hamden. Two grandchildren, Acacia and Mitchel, and three great-grandchildren. William was predeceased by two siblings, Evelyn Dease, Trula Green, he is survived by his sisters Magalene Dease, Queen (Ray)Funnye, brothers Leroy Dease, Joe (Mollie)Dease, Ervin (Blondell) Johnnie (Claudia)Dease, Vincent (Wanda) Dease, Aunt Helen Ford and numerous relatives and friends.
