William “Pete” Redfearn 86, of New Haven, passed away Monday, August 1, 2022. He was born on December 29, 1935, in Cheraw, S.C., to late Esau and Patsie Redfearn.
William retired from The Metro North Railroad after 30+ years of service. He established multiple successful businesses such as Lazy Pete’s Bar and Grill, Ferry Street Mini Market and a dual grocery store-laundromat in New Haven.
He leaves behind his children, Sherry J. Redfearn, Venus Redfearn-Bruce (Dave), Margaret Emery, Dawn Redfearn-Hazard (Albert), and Bobby Emery (Felicia); sisters, Mary Herring (James) and Patsy Cosey (Roger); brother, Phil Redfearn; sisters-in-law, Annie W. Redfearn and Emma Wiley; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, family, and friends. William was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Redfearn; grandchildren, Tyrell Redfearn and Lavias Phillips; sisters, Sally M. Redfearn, Josie Nivens, Lucille Washington-Kwame, and Sylvia Gatlin; and brothers, Magellan Redfearn “B.T.” and John Redfearn “J.C.”.
A celebration of his life will take place Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at 11:00 AM at The New Trinity Temple COGIC, 285 Dixwell Ave, New Haven, CT.
