You think it’s going to be a lot of work to decorate your tree?
It’s likely you won’t need a cherry picker.
Chris Martindale does.
The city’s official Christmas spruce began to be festooned with its first lights Thursday morning.
Parks Department staffer Martindale said the first strings of lights that he’d begun to deploy on the well branched tree would hardly be the last.
In total, Martindale and his colleagues will be stringing 22,000 to 24,000 individual bulbs, he said. It will take about a month before they’re all hanging there in just the right way for that countdown moment.
