WASHINGTON —- A day after the U.S. House voted along party lines to keep the federal government open past Friday, Rep. Rosa DeLauro continued to work the phones Wednesday in a final effort to block the funding bill.

WASHINGTON — Meet Julia Miller.

She’s a resident of New Haven, a civics teacher at Metropolitan Business Academy in New Haven, and Connecticut’s 2025 teacher of the year.

On Tuesday, she’s also a symbol of opposition to President Donald Trump’s efforts to slash federal education funding and abolish the U.S. Department of Education. She is a guest of U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro at Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress.

DeLauro takes on another leadership role.

(Washington) Rep. Rosa DeLauro has been in the forefront of Democratic efforts to push back against President Donald Trump, and on Monday she got a new title to reinforce her role.

The top Democrat on the House Appropriations Committee — the panel that writes the spending bills each year to fund the federal government — will be one of three co-chairs of the new Rapid Response Task Force and Litigation Working Group.
